Madeline’s Christmas is a
musical based upon the series of children’s books by Ludwig Bemelmans.
Madeline is irrepressibly charming and fearless, and every story about
Madeline begins:
“In an old
house in Paris that was covered with vines, lived twelve little girls in
two straight lines. They left the house, a half past nine…The smallest
one was Madeline.”
The cast has roles for 12 little girls who should look to be
in the 7-12 age range. All girls will be asked to sing their prepared
songs at the audition. They will also be asked to read from a section of
the script—there is nothing to prepare in advance for the reading. No
French dialects will be used in the play.
Rehearsals will begin in early October. Rehearsals will be
held 3 afternoons a week between (approximately) 4 pm and 7 pm (specific
days TBA) and on some Saturdays and Sundays during the day (Dates and
times TBA.) Dress/technical rehearsals will be held during the day on
Sunday, November 15 at noon; Monday, November 16 at 6:00 p.m.; Tuesday,
November 17 at 6:00 p.m.; Wednesday, November 18 at 6 pm and Saturday,
November 21st at 10 a.m.
