Little Lake Theatre Company’s 12-week acting class called “I CAN DO THAT!” for all ages, 18 and over, is meant for anyone who has ever been called a “ham” or has heard, “You are such a drama queen—you ought to be on the stage!” Students come to us for a wide range of reasons. Some are interested in acting but have NEVER acted before--absolute beginners. Others haven't performed since high school or college. Returning students and actors with experience attend our class to fine-tune their skills and approach the work in a new way. Some students want to prepare for college auditions. Others hope to become more comfortable in front of a group, for example, when making business presentations. Some students simply enjoy lifelong learning, and love attending theater. Others want to develop the courage to audition for local community theater groups. And many students have worked with local theater groups but have never taken a formal acting class--and want to see what they've missed!

Our maximum enrollment is 22. The course is designed to be respectful, informative, supportive and FUN.

Students participate in monologue and scene work. Theater exercises and games are used to support aspects of character development. All work is geared towards the individual student’s experience and comfort level. Students are given the opportunity to attend a working dress rehearsal to observe and analyze the work. The class culminates in a performance showcase for family and friends.
Art DeConciliis, veteran actor and director of nearly 120 Little Lake productions and named “Performer of the Year” by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and Little Lake’s Artistic Director, Sunny Disney Fitchett, have taught this course together for more than 16 years.

Former students have become involved at Little Lake and other local companies as actors, stage managers and volunteers.

In less than a week, a group of people with little or no acting experience will step into the spotlight.

They'll perform a scene from a play in front of an audience – maybe as long as 20 minutes on stage – but they are up to the challenge.

The performers are students in the adult acting class taught at Little Lake Theatre by artistic director Sunny Disney Fitchett and actor/director Art DeConcilliis, a veteran of 110 Little Lake productions. Since early July, the dozen students have met weekly to learn improvisation, movement, memorization tips and other skills.
